Those living in Greece and the United States were the most likely to indicate that they were "very interested" in non-mainstream coverage of international affairs, accounting for 25 and 21 percent of respondents in these countries respectively.
Thirteen percent of respondents in the United Kingdom said they were "very interested" in being able to access alternative sources of information on global events, and a further 44 percent said they were "quite interested" in such an option.
ICM Research polled over 5,000 people in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Greece and the United States between March 20 and April 9, 2015.
French Less Hungry for Alternative News Sources Than Greek, US, UK, German Citizens
Less than half of French citizens, 49 percent, would like to have an alternative to Western mainstream media news coverage — the lowest figure compared to the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany and Greece, the poll conducted revealed.
Fifteen percent of French citizens said they were not interested in alternative news at all, while another 28 percent said they were "not very interested."

Since Greece was hit by an economic crisis in 2009, its people have become very skeptical of mainstream news organizations in the country, most of which are owned by the business elite. Now several years into the crisis, Greeks have become even hungrier for information from alternative news sources, with many small media outlets popping up across the country.
In recent months, as Russia's relations with the West deteriorated amid conflicting stances on the Ukrainian crisis, many US and European media outlets have adopted a one-sided approach to covering events in Ukraine.
