“Only joint efforts [from the international community] are capable of moving the solution to the most difficult and complex international problems, and this has happened during the successful settlement with Syrian chemical weapons, and during talks on Iran’s nuclear program, where thanks to constructive adjustment of all the participants a serious potential in reaching an overall agreement has been formed,” Lavrov said during a speech before the Russian upper house of parliament.
He added that “the possibility should not be missed” in reaching a final agreement so as not to return to “methods of pressure” against Iran.
For more than a year, Iran and the P5+1 have been negotiating a comprehensive deal ensuring the peaceful nature of Iranian nuclear energy activities. On April 2, the sides agreed upon a political framework for the future deal. The final deal is expected to be agreed by the end of June.
On May 15, Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said that chances are high that a final agreement would be reached within the set deadline.
