MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Western media attempts to discredit Russian authorities and convince people that the country’s ruling circle is corrupt would never work, Kremlin Chief of Staff Sergei Ivanov told RT TV channel.
Ivanov stressed that the aim of the accusations against Moscow is to “convince Russians that the ruling circle of Russia is wrong.”
“But I am absolutely sure that this would never work,” he said in an interview with RT released Friday.
“Those newspapers which published such rubbish can’t be respected by those who are serious enough to analyze the information,” Ivanov stressed.
In the past months, several Western media outlets published stories, accusing top Russian officials of corruption. However, none of the allegations were supported by reliable evidence.
Ivanov said that he can vouch for himself and many at the top of Russian administration, including Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, head of the Federal Security Service Alexander Bortnikov, and many others.
