MOSCOW, June 3 (Sputnik) — Raimonds Vejonis will need to gain 51 percent of votes in the parliament to be elected.
Three other candidates, opposition lawmakers Martins Bondars and Sergejs Dolgopolovs, and European Court of Justice judge Egils Levits, have been voted out.
After neither candidate gained the required 51 percent of votes in the first round earlier in the day, three more rounds were held, with candidates being eliminated one by one.
In the fourth round, Vejonis and Levits received 46 and 26 votes out of 100 votes, respectively.
