New levels of conflict between leading world powers has put Central Asia in the epicenter of global turbulence, Kazakh Foreign Minister Erlan Idrisov said Thursday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Constructive dialogue was needed to suppress difficultes, Idrisov said at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s conference on regional security in Moscow.

“In line with the new level of conflict between leading world powers [the United States and Russia], Central Asia has been put in the epicenter of global turbulence.”

Idrisov said that hate and xenophobia are intensifying due to the conflict.

“The practice of inciting hatred and xenophobia is picking up pace and Central Asia should not become an object or subject of global competition,” Idrisov said.
