MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Islamic State jihadist group’s advance is, to a certain extent, a result of support from external actors, Zarif said at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s conference on regional security in Moscow.
"What is more important is that governments who seek to use these groups for their temporary political aims as a strategic power in the region must realize that the fire they are spreading will sooner or later involve them too."
Zarif called on the international community to consolidate strategies to counter ISIL threat in the region.
Increased terrorist activity in the Middle East, especially the expansion of the Islamic State, has become one of the world's major concerns in recent years.
