MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Moscow will hold to an “in kind” principle in regard to Western sanctions and any new sanctions against Russia will be met with a response, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Thursday.
"Russia has emphasized its ‘in kind’ principle several times. Naturally, on the basis of reciprocity, any type of sanctions will not be left without a response," Peskov told journalists.
Earlier in June, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev vowed "symmetrical" response to new sanctions against Russia should such be introduced by the West.
A number of Western high-ranking officials, including UK Prime Minister David Cameron admitted that the anti-Russia sanctions were damaging the Western countries themselves.
