MOSCOW (Sputnik), Daria Chernyshova – The European electorate has not been asked whether they would like to live in "the United States of Europe," a member of UK Parliament for the constituency of Birmingham Hall Green told Sputnik on Tuesday:
"They [electorate] haven’t been told the truth about the ultimate objective of the federalists. The project is to create the United States of Europe. And the people of Europe haven’t been asked whether they want to have a United States of Europe, and watched that happen while they have never been told truth about it."
His remarks come amid increasing disenchantment in the European Union as a politico-economic alliance and speculations on possible exits from the bloc by several member states.
According to a recent ICM Research opinion poll commissioned by Sputnik, some 67 percent of Britons answering a survey believe that the rise of UK right-wing parties is linked to immigration problems in the country. Meanwhile, over 50 percent of UK citizens polled and more than 40 percent of those French citizens polled attribute the shift to disenchantment in the EU.
