ATHENS (Sputnik) — Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras discussed his country’s reforms proposals on Sunday in a phone conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Francois Hollande and European Commission’s President Jean-Claude Juncker, a Greek government spokesman said.
"The prime minister offered the three leaders Greece’s proposals on a mutually beneficial agreement that will help reach a final decision, instead of shelving the problem," the Greek official told reporters.
Tsipras is now holding a Cabinet meeting where he has told ministers about the results of his talks with key EU leaders.
Later on Sunday, the chief of Greece’s left-wing government is due to leave Athens for Brussels where he will meet with EU and international money lenders for an emergency summit.
The negotiators have until June 30 to hammer out a reforms deal for Greece to prevent it from defaulting on its $1.8-billion debt to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which could push it out of the Eurozone.
