"In Eastern Turkmenistan, we are developing Potash fertilizer factories, which will be export-oriented, India is one of the potential market for that… I think the governments on both sides are moving in the right direction and the prime minister's visit will put a special focus on the issue of fertilizer," Parahat Durdyev said.
He added that for Turkmenistan the production of fertilizers is a move away from dependence on raw materials exports.
The ambassador also expressed hope that during Modi's visit, the leadership of both countries will sign a number of agreements on cooperation in the spheres of trade, science and culture.
According to Indian media, Modi will visit the Central Asian countries of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan in the second week of July, after attending the BRICS Summit in Ufa, Russia.
Turkmenistan expects to sign agreements with India in the spheres of trade, culture and science during the July visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the ambassador of Turkmenistan to India said.
“The agreements that we are looking for [are] in trade, culture, science, in humanitarian areas,” Parahat Durdyev said.
The ambassador expressed hope that, given Turkmenistan’s growing role in regional politics, the economy and transport, Modi’s visit will be “fruitful” in the fields of energy and transport, as well.
“Indians are welcome in Turkmenistan. The expectation is that this visit will be a milestone,” Durdyev said.
According to Indian media, Prime Minister Modi will visit Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan in the second week of July.
