MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The clashes occurred at the border of Kohlu and Dera Bugti districts on Monday. According to the the Pakistani Dawn newspaper, the militants used heavy weapons in the fighting.
The local authorities could not verify the exact number of victims.
"Yes, people have been killed, but we are not sure about the number of casualties," an official told the outlet, speaking on condition of anonymity.
Local residents are staying in their homes as the situation in the area remains tense, the media reported.
The Balochistan province is a center of an ongoing conflict between local nationalists and the Pakistani government. Dera Bugti and Kohlu districts are the most troubled areas of the province, since separatist groups often carry out attacks on local government facilities, as well as on representatives of the security forces.
