NEW YORK (Sputnik) — West, who is currently being held on $5.5 million bail, is also facing charges for the alleged murder of two men and a woman in the US state of Pennsylvania on July 5, 2015.
“On July 6, Todd West was apprehended by the authorities in Allentown Pennsylvania,” the statement read on Thursday. “[West] was charged with murder and multiple weapons offenses.”
Prosecutors allege that West killed three people and wounded a fourth all within one hour during a shooting spree in New Jersey on June 25, 2015.
“The investigation revealed that the same.38 caliber, six-shot revolver was used in all of the June 25 shootings,” the Union County Prosecutor’s Office said.
Prosecutors added that those alleged murders occurred within 45 minutes of each other.
Furthermore, West was charged with the murder of his cousin, Michael Thompkins, who was found dead in the hallway of his New Jersey apartment on May 18, 2015.
According to the New Jersey State Police Department, the murder rate in New Jersey has been steadily increasing since 2009. In 2013, the latest year that statistics are available, New Jersey had 401 homicides, a 20 percent increase since 2009.
