Arab Coalition Bombs Yemen Two Hours After Start of Humanitarian Pause
00:43 GMT 11.07.2015 (Updated: 10:53 GMT 26.10.2022) The international coalition led by Saudi Arabia that has been conducting airstrikes against Houthi rebels in Yemen bombed the capital Sanaa, as well as the port city of Aden two hours after the start of a second humanitarian pause in the country, a Sputnik Arabic correspondent reports.
CAIRO (Sputnik) – In Sanaa, the strikes are targeting the presidential residence in the city center. Houthi positions are also under attack in Aden, a security source in the Aden Governorate told Sputnik early on Saturday.
On Friday, the United Nations announced a second humanitarian pause in conflict-torn Yemen saying it would start on July 10 at 23:59 local time (20:59 GMT) and last until the July 17 end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
Member of the Houthi rebels’ political council Hamza al-Husi told RIA Novosti early on Saturday that in the first 40 minutes after the start of the humanitarian pause there were no coalition strikes in Yemen.
