Oregon Airport Allows Marijuana on In-State Flights

People flying in-state from Portland are now allowed to carry the state’s legal amount of marijuana.

As of July 1, people in Oregon are allowed to possess marijuana if they are at least 21-years-old.

They can keep up to 8 ounces of the drug in their homes, grow up to four plants out of public view, and carry up to 1 ounce outside their homes. However, it’s illegal to smoke in public.

It’s also illegal to drive while stoned. So, don’t smoke it on your way to the airport.

You’ll also be in for a trip. Marijuana is still illegal at the federal level and the U.S. Transportation Security Administration will call Port Police if they find marijuana in your possession  as you navigate through the airport’s checkpoints.  

If you comply with the state’s marijuana laws, you will be allowed on board.

Keep in mind that transporting marijuana out of the state is illegal and anyone landing in a state where it remains illegal are subjected to prosecution under that state's laws.
