Iran and the P5+1 group of international mediators have been holding talks on a long-term agreement that will guarantee the peaceful nature of Tehran’s nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief. The June 30 deadline for reaching the deal has been extended twice.
"With intensive consultations over the past couple of days, new progress has been made in the final stage of negotiations. China believes that no agreement can be perfect and conditions are already in place for us to reach a good agreement," Wang told journalists.
"Hence foreign ministers of six countries gather once again in Vienna to bring negotiations to its conclusion. We believe that there could not and should not be further delay at the negotiations," Wang told journalists.
On April 2, 2015, the P5+1 group (Russia, the United States, Germany, China, France, the United Kingdom) reached a framework agreement with Iran in Lausanne, Switzerland, which envisages Tehran reducing the number of centrifuges and curtailing its uranium enrichment activities in exchange for the easing of the sanctions imposed on the country.
