MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday changed the month of holding parliamentary elections from December to September beginning in 2016.

Many parties in the lower house of parliament, the State Duma, believed it would be better for Russians to go to the polling stations in September when most Russians are not on vacation and it is warmer as opposed to heading out to vote during freezing conditions so as to increase voter turnout.
