MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The United Nations Security Council is set to vote on the resolution concerning Iran’s nuclear program on Monday at 13:00 GMT.

On July 14, Iran and the P5+1 group, comprising China, France, Russia, the United States, Britain and Germany, reached an agreement to ensure the peaceful nature of Tehran's nuclear program and ease sanctions against the country.

A resolution on Iran was officially submitted to the Security Council on July 15. The document will review the UN-imposed economic sanctions against the country, including arms embargo.

According to a project document prepared by the P5+1 group and Iran last week, a new resolution to approve an agreement between international mediators and Tehran will replace previous decisions linked to the nuclear issue.

The United States and the European Union have expressed hope that the resolution will be passed on July 20.

Russia's Permanent UN Representative Vitaly Churkin said on July 15 he expected the Security Council to unanimously adopt the resolution when it was up for voting.

The July 14 project document also states that the new Security Council resolution will be in force for 10 years.
