MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif spoke in favor of the nuclear agreement with P5+1 group of countries during his Tuesday address to the country’s parliament.
On Monday, the commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps, Major Gen. Mohammad Ali Jafari, sharply criticized UN Resolution 2231 in support of the deal reached last week by Iran and the P5+1 group, claiming it contained limitations unacceptable for Iran, especially in the field of country's military capabilities.
"We have never said and will never say that the joint plan of action [agreed between Tehran and the P5+1 group] is in all ways beneficial to Iran, in any negotiations you have to give and take…Flexibility is acceptable to achieve the goals pursued by the two sides," Zarif said.
Zarif on Tuesday submitted the text of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on Tehran's nuclear program for the country’s parliament to review.
Tehran and the P5+1 group of international negotiators comprising Russia, China, the United States, the United Kingdom, France and Germany agreed on the text of the JCPOA in Vienna on July 14.
The deal aims to ensure the peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear activities in exchange for the lifting of sanctions imposed against the country.
