MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Eurotunnel services have again been disrupted, as a migrant crisis continues in the French port of Calais, the operator said Wednesday.
"The on-site wait from UK is now up to 01h. We can assure you that we're all working hard to resolve it. Thank you for your patience. Our Passenger service is running with up to 3 departures per hour on both directions with a disrupted timetable," Eurotunnel said on Twitter.
UK Prime Minister David Cameron said Wednesday he was very concerned about the Calais crisis and that the UK government would do everything in its power to tackle it.
UK Home Secretary Theresa May will chair a meeting of the Cobra emergency committee on Wednesday following the events at Calais, with the Home Office confirming that it would provide 7 million pounds ($10.9 million) to strengthen the Channel Tunnel security.
According to the French Interior Ministry, as many as 3,000 migrants are currently in camps Calais.
Calais saw several traffic disruptions earlier in July due to a strike by French ferry workers and regular attempts by undocumented migrants, housed at refugee camps near the port, to climb into cargo trucks and cross into the United Kingdom.
