WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The unclassified e-mail system at the US Department of Defense is down and investigators look into a possible cybersecurity breach, the Military Times reported on Wednesday.
The unclassified system, used by the Joint Staff as well as the Defense Department’s civilian and military employees, does not appear to have led to compromising classified information, the Military Times reported.
If there has been a cyber-breach, it would be the latest in a series of cyber-attacks on US government over the past year, including the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), White House and State Department.
The US government is still responding to OPM breach, which resulted in the personal information of at least 21 million current and former federal employees being accessed.
