MOSCOW (Sputnik) — As a result of an attack carried out by PKK members, three servicemen from the motorized army battalion were killed, the statement said.
According to the statement, the troops had been deployed to scout out the area prior to a military convoy's passage.
On July 20, an attack in the Turkish city of Suruc, allegedly orchestrated by Islamic State militants, killed 32 people. Two days later, two police officers were murdered in the southern city of Ceylanpinar. The PKK claimed responsibility for the attack, accusing the murdered policemen of supporting ISIL.
In response to the attacks, Turkey launched airstrikes against the PKK and ISIL positions in the Middle East. It has also conducted nationwide anti-terror raids across the country.
