Campaigners and some diplomats are saying it is time for a woman to take over from the UN's current boss, Ban Ki-moon — the eighth in an all-male line of secretaries-general — who steps down at the end of next year. Already there is talk of who could fill his shoes on January 1, 2017.
To discuss the options, co-hosts of Looking Forward, Svetlana Ekimenko and Victor Erofeyev are joined on the show by Professor Jean Krasno, Lecturer in the Department of Political Science at the City College of New York and a chair of the "Campaign to elect a woman UN Secretary-General" and Marsha Freeman, Director of International Women’s Rights Action Watch at the University of Minnesota.
