An estimated 400 refugees endured the scorching heat to register for new housing on Friday. Local media reported one asylum seeker sustaining injuries and a person, reportedly not among the refugees, being provisionally arrested during the registration process.
An estimated 200,000 migrants applied for asylum in Germany in 2014, with the figure expected to more than double this year.
National surveys have demonstrated growing anti-refugee sentiment as the country, and the European Union in general, attempts to cope with the influx of migrants fleeing crises in North Africa and the Middle East.
Meanwhile, xenophobic attacks have led to injuries among a Moroccan national and two Germans of Turkish origin overnight, the Berliner Morgenpost cited authorities as saying.
A total of 150 arson and other attacks damaging refugee shelters have been reported taking place across Germany in the first half of 2015.
