MOSCOW (Sputnik) The Internet policing charity has begun sharing the digital fingerprints of indecent images, or so-called hashes, with Google, Facebook and Twitter, as well as Microsoft and Yahoo.

"The IWF Harsh List could be a game-changer and really steps up the fight against child sexual abuse images online," IWF chief executive Susie Hargreaves said in the announcement.

Hargreaves said the technology enables the identification and removal of sensitive images to be streamlined, as well as to prevent such images from being uploaded online.

"We’ll soon be able to offer the hash list to all IWF Members, who are based around the world," she added.

The UK National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children estimates that every 20th child in the United Kingdom fall victim to sexual abuse, one-third of whom typically do not report the incident to authorities.
