Anti-Iran sanctions imposed separately by the United States, the United Nations and the European Union banned sales of Iranian oil products to many foreign states, and also prohibited the West’s nuclear cooperation with Iran.
On July 14, Iran and six world powers, comprising Russia, the United States, China, the United Kingdom, France and Germany, reached a historic agreement in the Austrian capital Vienna obliging Tehran to guarantee the peaceful nature of its nuclear activities in exchange for sanctions relief.
Alongside this deal, Iran signed a road-map agreement with the IAEA to clarify the past and present nuclear issues. Under the agreement, the UN nuclear watchdog will make an assessment of issues related to possible military dimensions of Iran's nuclear energy program by the end of 2015.
"Iran today provided the IAEA with its explanation in writing and related documents as agreed in the Road-map for the clarification of past and present outstanding issues regarding Iran’s nuclear program, concluded between the IAEA and the Islamic Republic of Iran," the statement published on the IAEA website said.
