MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The incident happened on Friday near Arras, 115 miles north of Paris, while the Thalys train was at the town’s station.
The gunman claims he wanted to rob the passengers and that he found an abandoned bag with a weapon in one of the Brussels parks, according to the newspaper.
The gunman was said to be armed with a Kalashnikov rifle when he injured three passengers before being overpowered and arrested.
The police have not identified the shooter yet, but the local media reported that he is a 26-year-old Moroccan origin tied to Islamist radical movement.
France stepped up security measures after a string of Islamist-related attacks in and around Paris in January 2015, including the shooting at the office of the Charlie Hebdo satirical magazine that left 12 people dead.
