The Minsk II ceasefire is dead but neither the West nor Kiev has recognized it openly; instead of de-escalating tensions in Donbass, Poroshenko and his fascist allies refused to grant autonomy to Ukraine's eastern regions, have tried to suppress the opposition and have turned a deaf ear to the call to withdraw heavy weaponry from the line of contact, Toronto-based international criminal lawyer and a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada Christopher Black underscores.
"There can be no doubt that the Minsk-2 agreements do provide the framework for a peaceful settlement of the impasse but there is also no doubt that the Kiev and NATO forces have no intention of abiding by its terms and are preparing for another offensive," the lawyer emphasized.
"Poroshenko openly calls for a military solution to the crisis and has increased the draft in the west. The NATO alliance continues to pour in its forces disguised as 'advisers' and 'mercenaries' and puts additional pressure on Russia with multiple military exercises from the Baltic to Bulgaria, where more tanks have been recently dispatched to 'send Russia a message'," Black pointed out.
On the other hand, it is crystal clear for US/NATO decision makers that Russia does not want to be lured into a direct conflict with NATO that will lead to an all-out war in Europe.
"We see this strategy being played out with the constant increase of economic warfare against Russia, which is clearly the ultimate target, and the increasing use of propaganda including the planting in the media of the most absurd stories about Russia and its government," Christopher Black noted.
At the same time the United States and Britain are trying to humiliate and stigmatize Russia by establishing an international tribunal on the flight MH17 tragedy, although the official investigation into the matter has not yet borne any fruit.
"Indeed, we see in Ukraine the expression of the Anglo-American-German political purpose: the desire to force Russia to submit to their will. They failed in World War I. The attempt failed again in World War II," the lawyer elaborated, adding that after the collapse of the Soviet Union Russia, contrary to all expectation has not been destroyed, but has gathered its strength again and is unwilling to bow before Washington or Brussels.
"But the Kiev-NATO cabal cannot break the will of the peoples of the Donbass nor of Russia and so [this explains] the constant attacks, the constant propaganda, the constant turning of the economic screws," Black stressed.
The international criminal lawyer pointed to the fact that these actions are completely illegal under international law and the laws of war, including principles and articles of the UN Charter and Geneva Conventions.
Surprisingly though, the International Criminal Court is turning a blind eye to these violations. The Prosecutor remains silent and obviously plays into Washington's hands as usual, Black noted.
"The NATO puppets in charge of Ukraine" are not acting in Ukraine's national interests.
The lawyer emphasized that there is a way to solve the current crisis. According to Black, first and foremost Kiev must recognize the right to self-rule for the Donbass republics, establish a federal state and demonstrate the firm commitment to remain a neutral state with non-aligned status, not joining the Western anti-Russia strategy, that can only lead to world war.
