The prime minister is currently on an official visit to Almaty, the capital of Kazakhstan.
"Pakistan wants to sign a free trade agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union. This will promote fruitful cooperation between the EEU and the Pakistani business community," Sharif said in an interview with the Kazakh Express K.
According to Sharif, Kazakhstan "can be very helpful in maintaining the free trade agreement, since being an active member of the association."
The Eurasian Economic Union, comprising Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia, is an international organization to streamline the flow of goods and services between its member countries.
More than 40 countries and international organizations, including China, Thailand, Indonesia and Cambodia, have expressed interest in creating a free trade area with the EEU, according to Russian Economic Development Minister Alexey Ulyukaev.
