MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The peace in Syria cannot be achieved unless the United States and its allies stop supporting and training the so-called moderate opposition, the co-president of the International Peace Bureau (IPB) told Sputnik on Friday.
"If you really want a peace in Syria you need to stop sending weapons to Syria and stop to support different opposition groups; stop the Saudi Arabia and Turkey from sending weapons to the rebels and you have to start serious negotiation about ceasefire," Reiner Braun, who is also a member of International Association of Lawyers Against Nuclear Arms, said.
The United States, as well as its allies, have been training and equipping moderate opposition in Turkey.
A US-led coalition, including Turkey and Saudi Arabia, has also been launching airstrikes against the Islamic State positions in Syria without a formal approval from Damascus.
