"We are acting as fools depriving ourselves of the Russian market by supporting the policy of ill-advised sanctions invented by the EU… A real president of France would have immediately cancelled all these anti-Russian sanctions,” Le Pen said, when addressing a group of supporters in a village in the country’s northeastern Champagne-Ardennes province.
Russia banned the import of meat, fish, diary, fruit and vegetables from the European Union last summer in response to European economic sanctions imposed on Russia earlier over its alleged involvement in the Ukrainian conflict.
In late June, the European Union extended the sanctions imposed against Russia.
Moscow, in turn, prolonged the food embargo.
