LONDON (Sputnik) — UK police have arrested 92 people during the first day of the annual Notting Hill Carnival, a Metropolitan Police Service spokesman said.
According to the spokeswoman, seven people were detained for sexual offences while 25 were arrested for drugs offences.

Other arrests were made for possession of offensive weapons, going equipped for theft and other public order offences, the local police said Sunday.
The spokeswoman added that the police had also confiscated some 350 canisters of nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas.
More than one million people attend the Notting Hill Carnival in West London annually. The carnival is notorious for increasing the criminal rate in the district.
