CHISINAU (Sputnik) — On Sunday, mass protests erupted in Chisinau, with up to 100,000 anti-government demonstrators taking to the streets to protest against the worsening economic situation and numerous corruption scandals.
The protesters demanded that top officials and parliament must resign, and the constitutional system must change so that the president is chosen by direct ballot, rather than by members of parliament.
"Following the events on Sunday, six law enforcement officers had to seek medical assistance. All of them were provided with medical treatment. One of the officers was hospitalized in the Internal Ministry’s clinic," Tamara Procopii told RIA Novosti.
