MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Western politicians must realize that by playing games with Russia and insulting its pride they are putting in danger peace and security on the whole planet, Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic said in an exclusive interview with Sputnik Serbia.
Commenting on Russian President Vladimir Putin's upcoming address to the 70th session of the UN General Assembly, Nikolic said:
"I think this session will be a key event and many in the West will realize that by playing games with Russia, with its perception of values and its pride, they are, in fact, playing games with dozens, even millions of people, and ultimately with peace and security on the entire planet."
The Serbian president also stressed that the West should finally understand that it would be much better to cooperate with Russia to improve the situation in the world.
"It is evident that China and Russia have forged a friendship that is difficult to break up," Nikolic told Sputnik Serbia following his visit to China last week.
Last Thursday, China hosted a large-scale military parade in Beijing to commemorate the 70th anniversary of its victory in the Resistance War against Japan and the end of World War Two.
The event was used to boost relations between countries that fought against the common enemy in the 1940s, including China, Russia and Serbia. Serbia sent its Army Guards to march alongside Chinese forces.
