The 10th international Russia Arms Expo RAE-2015 kicked off in the Urals city of Nizhny Tagil on Wednesday, where Russia will showcase its latest military equipment and technology.

US, UK Companies Afraid to Take Part in Russia Arms Expo Due to Sanctions
NIZHNY TAGIL (Sputnik) – Around 160 companies and representatives from 65 countries are expected at the expo, which will run on September 9-12, the company Business Dialogue told RIA Novosti.

Since the expo’s introduction in 1999, the number of exhibits has increased to nearly 2,500 military units from some 50 countries.

Attendance at RAE-2013 exceeded the 20,000 mark, including over 460 foreign nationals as part of 40 delegations.

Russia Arms Expo 2015 Expects to Draw Big Foreign Arms Manufacturers
The Nizhny Tagil State Demonstration and Exhibition Centre of Armament and Military Equipment, dubbed "Staratel," is the only such center in the world. Pavilions at this year’s expo cover an area of 43,000 square feet, having a total floor space of 75,000 square feet.

Visitors can expect to see Russia’s state-of-the-art Armata tank, built by the host city’s Uralvagonzavod (UVZ) machine building company, on display at RAE-2015. The three-member vehicle includes a 125-mm smoothbore cannon and 7.62 mm remote-control machine gun as its main armament.

The expo will also showcase the Koalitsia-SV self-propelled howitzer, a 152-mm artillery system designed to destroy tactical nuclear weapons, armored weapons and fortifications, among other targets.

At least 10 countries, including South Korea, Italy, France and Turkey, will be exhibiting at RAE-2015.
