WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Democratic Party front-runner Hillary Clinton has lost some 20 percent of supporting votes since July, while Republican favorite Donald Trump has gained 13 percent, a new Washington Post/ABC News poll revealed on Monday.
Only 42 percent of registered Democratic voters expressed support for Clinton in September, compared to 63 percent of Americans who supported the former US state secretary in July, according to the poll.
Clinton’s main contestant Bernie Sanders currently enjoys 24 percent of votes, while Trump’s top competitor in the Republican field Ben Carson has 20 percent of votes.
At present, Trump and Clinton run neck-and-neck in a hypothetical general election. While 46 percent of those polled said they plan to support Clinton, 43 percent said they would pick Trump, according to a Sunday’s poll.
