WASHINGTON, September 17 (Sputnik) — Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has reintroduced the resolution of disapproval three times, but a minority group of 42 senators who support the agreement blocked the motion each time.
The law authorizing the Congress to review the agreement reached between Iran, the United States, Russia, China France, the United Kingdom and Germany, gives the US Congress until September 17 to approve or reject the deal.
If a resolution of disapproval is not sent to President Barack Obama by midnight on September 17, the international agreement to provide sanctions relief to Iran and curb its nuclear program will go into effect.
