WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — High-level military-to-military cooperation between the United States and Russia continues to be suspended over the Ukrainian conflict, US State Department deputy spokesperson Mark Toner told journalists on Friday.
"The high level military to military contact and cooperation with Russia that we suspended in response to Russia’s illegal occupation and attempted annexation of Crimea still remains in effect, still remains on hold given Russia’s continued destabilizing actions in eastern Ukraine and Crimea," Toner said.
At present, the United States, France, Turkey and Syria have ongoing military operations in the Syrian battlespace.
A US-led coalition of 62 nations has conducted airstrikes against Islamic State positions in Syria since September 2014.
On Thursday, Russia’s Foreign Ministry announced that it is open to sharereach of information on Moscow’s military cooperation with Syria.
US Undersecretary of Defense for Policy, Christine Wormuth told Sputnik on Wednesday that the United States had not been ready to reopen official military-to-military discussions with Russia yet.
