MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russia has completed naval exercises near the Kamchatka Peninsula that included 2,000 servicemen, nuclear submarines, surface vessels and the firing of missiles, the Russian Defense Ministry’s Eastern Military District’s spokesman said Thursday.
"The combat preparations included more than 40 pieces of military and specialty equipment, over 10 surface vessels, [nuclear] submarines, and service vessels, as well as 10 airplanes and helicopters and more than 2,000 servicemen," Capt. 1st Rank Roman Martov said.
On Wednesday, missile divisions from the Russian Pacific Fleet's Kamchatka Coast Guard successfully carried out live-fire exercises.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, about 40 units of military and special-purpose equipment and over 500 military personnel took part in the Wednesday military exercise.
