Authorities were alerted by the head of the local municipality at Milejczyce a village in the country’s eastern Siemiatycze County.
Police are looking for the perpetrators.
In Poland, desecration of burial places is punishable by up to five years behind bars.
Buried in the local cemetery at Milejczyce are over 1,600 Soviet Army soldiers who died liberating Poland from Nazi occupation during the Second World War.
