While most of the world media hailed Syriza party landslide win as a moment of triumph for Alexis Tsipras, there are some skeptical voices as well. Prominent author Elias Kulukundis is not sharing optimism of his colleagues. In an article Little cheers in Syriza Victory carried by The Huffington Times, Mr.Kulukundis writes: “Greeks have an expression to describe a useless exercise — "to make a hole in the water." Since the election of January 2015, Greek Prime Minister Tsipras has made two such holes. The first was to call a referendum whose results he would ignore. The second was to call new elections to achieve the same result as had already been achieved in January. Not quite a hole in the water. Not exactly without any significant result”.
How accurate is this observation and is it fair to say Mr.Tsipras “is making holes in the water” is yet to be seen.
