Participants of the “Global and National Strategies for Disaster Risk Management” International Congress will discuss long-term international cooperation in risk reduction over the next decade and a half.
“The Congress will be held under the auspices of the Russian Emergencies Ministry to exchange the best global practices and develop consolidated approaches to reduce the impact of natural and industrial disasters,” the press office told RIA Novosti.
Additionally, the ministry’s press office said the International Disaster Risk Management Congress will address response efforts to potential space object impacts, flood risk management, and increasing the sustainability of cities in response to technological aspects of human activity.
Emergencies Minister Vladimir Puchkov is expected to open the congress plenary meeting and hold separate discussions with Swiss, Italian and UN colleagues.
