PRAGUE (Sputnik) — Prague agreed to provide Budapest with assistance on the southern border last week. The Czech Republic plans to send trucks, off-road vehicles, drilling equipment for border fence construction and several dozen field kitchens to the country.
"On Tuesday, the military equipment accompanied by 21 serviceman from the 151st and 153rd engineer battalions, as requested by the Hungarian side, will leave the Czech city of Olomouc for the Hungarian city of Kaposvar by rail to help protect borders from undocumented immigrants," the Idnes website said.
Another group of Czech military will be sent to Hungary later in October.
Hungary is being used as a gateway to wealthier EU countries by hundreds of thousands of undocumented immigrants, fleeing to Europe to escape violence and poverty in their home countries.
