Teachers on the Frontline Against Terror

Teachers on the frontline against terror
Teachers in Britain now have a new legal obligation to keep an eye out for potential extremists.

The UK government estimates at least 700 people have traveled to support or fight for militant groups in Syria and Iraq. Under a new law, schools must have “due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism”. Critics of the policy say it unfairly targets Muslims.

On this edition of Looking Forward, co-hosts Svetlana Ekimenko and Victor Erofeyev are joined by Sally Bates, Headteacher at Wadsworth Fields Primary School and executive member of the National Association of Headteachers, UK to address concerns that the new law could stifle freedom of expression in schools.
