BRUSSELS (Sputnik) – The European Union has adopted a legislative framework to begin lifting anti-Iran sanctions, the EU foreign policy chief and Iranian foreign minister said in a joint statement Sunday.
“The EU today adopted the legislative framework for lifting all of its nuclear-related economic and financial sanctions,” Federica Mogherini and Mohammed Javad Zarif’s statement read.
Sunday marks Adoption Day of the nuclear agreement following its endorsement by the UN Security Council 90 days ago.
US President Barack Obama ordered state, treasury, commerce and energy secretaries to take steps toward lifting Iran sanctions as part of the deal, earlier in the day.
