Czech Republic to Send Humanitarian Aid to Refugees in Hungary
MOSCOW (Sputnik) Earlier in the day, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra'ad Hussein slammed the Czech Republic of systematic refugee rights violations and condemned Czech President Milos Zeman for making xenophobic and Islamophobic speeches.

"[I]t is quite obvious that the escalating campaign against the Czech Republic is related to its migration crisis stance," Jiri Ovcacek said, as quoted by the Czech news portal Parlamentni Listy.

A number of Western media outlets have criticized Czech police for abuse and ill-treatment of refugees in the past few months.

Ovcacek argued that the Czech Republic respects human rights and laws, saying any accusations toward the country and the president violated freedom of speech and opinion.

Over 710,000 migrants arrived in the European Union during the first nine months of 2015, according to the EU border agency Frontex.

In September, the EU interior ministers approved a plan proposed by the European Commission to redistribute some 160,000 refugees throughout the bloc based on a quota system.

The quotas have been strongly opposed by several EU states, including the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania and Hungary.
