PRAGUE (Sputnik) – The Czech Republic is sending humanitarian cargo to help refugees in Hungary, a spokesperson of the Czech Interior Ministry told RIA Novosti.
The humanitarian aid, to be delivered to migrant camps on Thursday, includes 10 tents, each with a maximum capacity of 15 people, as well as heating devices and sleeping sets, the spokesperson said.
Europe is dealing with a major migrant crisis, as thousands of people from conflict-torn countries in the Middle East and Africa leave their homes, trying to reach wealthy EU states in hopes of better life conditions.
Over 710,000 migrants arrived in the European Union during the first nine months of 2015, according to the EU border agency, Frontex.
Hungary, used by tens of thousands of migrants as a gateway to wealthier EU member states, has built fences along its borders, sealing off its borders with Croatia and Serbia.
