“[Border management procedures will include] the deployment in Slovenia within a week of 400 police officers and essential equipment through bilateral support,” the statement said Sunday.
Earlier on Sunday, the leaders of 11 European countries, as well as EU agencies agreed on a 17-point plan to cope with Western Balkans migration flows.
In recent months, Europe has been facing a major influx of migrants fleeing war-torn countries in the Middle East and North Africa. The Western Balkans are one of the most-used routes into the European Union for migrants and asylum seekers.
Over 710,000 migrants arrived in the European Union within the first nine months of 2015, according to the EU border agency Frontex.
