BRUSSELS (Sputnik) – The European Union has suspended sanctions it imposed against Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko until the end of February, the EU Council published in its official journal Friday.
Lukashenko was recently reelected for his fifth consecutive term as the president of Belarus.
Lukashenko has played an instrumental role in the past year by hosting the Minsk Talks that eventually de-escalated the conflict in eastern Ukraine.
