CHISINAU (Sputnik) – At least 27 people were killed and up to 200 seriously injured when a pyrotechnics display triggered a fire at Colectiv nightclub in the Romanian capital early Saturday.
"The Government [adopted] a resolution declaring October 31, November 1-2 days of national mourning," Ponta said.
Minister of Health Nicolae Banicioiu announced earlier an emergency government meeting in the run-up to Ponta's statement.
Romanian media reported Spanish, German and Italian nationals were among the victims. An estimated 400 people were inside the building during the fire and subsequent stampede at a rock concert.
Romanian President Klaus Iohannis expressed his condolences to the families of the victims.
