The new development was reportedly inspired by the wife of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, Ri Sol-ju, who is well-known for her fashionable look and stylish outfits.
Chairman Kim’s attention to female beauty care and cosmetics seems to be driven by his wife Ri’s advice that through women, the support of an entire family will follow, thus helping consolidate the communist system, the newspaper wrote, citing Yang Moo-jin, a professor at the University of North Korean Studies.
During a recent check-up, Kim Jong-un demanded that factory workers improve the quality of their production to attract foreign consumers.
Following his instructions, the two beauty factories are currently working on developing new beauty items, including hypoallergenic cosmetics and other care products.
In October, both factories participated in a national consumer exhibition where they presented about 80 kinds of beauty products.
